Amanda Vanhoozier is an infuential presence in the local agriculture and food movement of North Texas. She has served on many state and local non-profit boards and is currently the chair of Slow Food DFW, a community of advocates seeking a deeper, more authentic connection to the land and to growing.
With more than 30 years of experience, Amanda is the founder of multiple farmers markets and gardens and conducts agricultural workshops centered on the belief that following nature’s life-sustaining systems also cultivates healthy communities and businesses.
After retirement, Amanda started specialty cut flower farm Bishop Hill Farm Flowers. The farm is a small-scale, high-production model with a mission to mentor others in order to promote a stronger presence of locally grown flowers in North Texas. The effort both broadens her perspective and provides great joy, allowing her to fulfill a lifelong dream of being a business owner while simultaneously growing a market for locally-grown flowers.
